The lottery has estimated that if Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot of $240 million is won, the winner would receive $113.6 million after taxes.
In October, a player from Georgia became a winner of the $478 million jackpot. The lottery said that that jackpot win is the eighth time someone has won the Powerball jackpot this year. In August, a California player became the latest to win a Powerball jackpot worth $44.3 million. The week before, a player from Pennsylvania claimed the $213.8m jackpot.

How To Play The Powerball
To play Powerball for a $2 ticket, you have to go to your nearest convenience store, gas station or grocery store − or in a few states, you can buy tickets online.
To play, you will have to select six numbers in all to be placed on the ticket you intend to use. Five numbers will be white balls ranging from numbers 1 to 69. The Powerball is red and one number between 1 and 26.
For a higher chance of winning, there is an option to multiply all the other prizes by playing the “Power Play” for an additional $1. This addition can increase winnings by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or even 10X.
Players can also request a cashier to select the numbers for them which is called “Quick Pick” this will have a cashier provide numbers generated by a computer on a printed Powerball ticket.
Lotteries are conducted on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. If there is no jackpot winner, the cash prize will roll over by millions.
